New Environmental Supervision Department Building Opens in Telavi to Strengthen Regional Oversight
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songulashvili, visited Telavi to inspect the newly opened building of the Kakheti Regional Department of the Environmental Supervision Department and assess the working conditions. The information was released by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
The office is equipped with modern-standard inventory and technology and will house the Environmental Patrol, Rapid Response, and Inspection divisions of the Kakheti Regional Department.
The Department currently employs 90 staff members.
During a meeting with employees, Minister Songulashvili emphasized the importance of enhancing the department’s operational capabilities to ensure the effective enforcement of state environmental regulations. He highlighted the necessity of providing staff with suitable working conditions, modern equipment, and technical resources. According to the Minister, efforts to strengthen the department’s infrastructure and functionality are ongoing.
Minister Songulashvili was accompanied by Giorgi Aladashvili, State Representative of the Kakheti Region.
“It is of utmost importance that the employees of the Environmental Supervision Department are able to perform their duties in a more comfortable and well-equipped environment,” stated Giorgi Aladashvili.
He added that the agency plays a key role in preventing illegal logging and poaching, making its effective functioning critical for environmental protection in the region.
