Participants also discussed emergency preparedness and response to peste des petits ruminants (PPR), also known as sheep and goat plague, and sheep and goat pox. Discussions covered disease prevention and control mechanisms, existing risks, and approaches to effective emergency response.
The Regional Commission for Europe works to strengthen regional cooperation on animal health, develop the capacity of veterinary services, and harmonise sanitary regulations governing trade in animals and products of animal origin. The regional conference provides an important forum for sharing experience and developing common approaches.
