German Ambassador: Georgia Cannot Valuably Employ DSFTA Opportunities

According to Hubert Knirsch, German Ambassador to Georgia, Georgia cannot valuably employ DCFTA opportunities.

To boost production and exports potential, fist of all, business sector should specify the product to make focus on and make assessment due to results;

“At the same time, it will be reasonable if the government defines priority sectors, directs forces to developing these sectors and eradicates the existing obstacles. This refers to logistics, seaports and sea freights with EU, moreover, laboratory exploration of products, both imported and exported products”, the Ambassador noted and added that Georgia cannot valuably employ the DCFTA opportunities.

“DCFTA provides huge opportunities for developing economic relations between Georgia and EU. To be frank, you should start with trade sector, which remains underdeveloped. As to Georgia’s exports volumes to EU, it is satisfactory at this stage; in one word, Georgia has to intensify efforts to more efficiently use these opportunities. Naturally, private sectors of both Georgia and EU countries should jointly work on these issues”, the diplomat said.
