Georgian Authorities Fine Indian Tanker for Navigation Violations
The Coast Guard Department of Georgia's Border Police has arrested the Indian-flagged tanker "NAV DURGA" for violating navigation rules within Georgia's territorial waters.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the ship's captain, an Indian citizen, was charged under subsection "t" of the 1st prima part of Article 114 of Georgia's Code of Administrative Offenses for violating sailing regulations. The captain was fined 50,000 GEL.
After paying the fine, the tanker was allowed to continue its journey. GPS data confirmed the ship's location in Georgian waters near the port of Kulevi.
