Georgia Prepares New Agro Reform to Boost Exports and Food Security
Agro reform issues were discussed during a working meeting with sectoral associations.
Lasha Dolidze met with representatives of associations operating in the agricultural sector. During the meeting, participants reviewed the key направления of the agro reform program, which is expected to be announced in the near future.
Lasha Dolidze presented in detail the substance of the reform, which aims to strengthen export positions and enhance the country’s food security. According to him, the state has been implementing a targeted policy for more than 10 years to support the development of the agricultural sector, creating the foundation for the sector to move to a new stage of development.
“Today’s meeting with associations in a working format serves precisely this goal—to build on existing experience and move to a qualitatively new stage, which includes strengthening export positions and contributing to national food security. To achieve these goals, several modifications are planned, which we intend to implement through the new program,” said Lasha Dolidze.
Representatives of sectoral associations noted that such dialogue is essential for implementing an effective, results-oriented reform.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, was also attended by Deputy Minister Lasha Avaliani, Director of the Rural Development Agency of Georgia Zurab Gozalishvili, Director of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture Levan Ujmajuridze, and representatives of relevant departments of the Ministry.
