Davit Songulashvili: At the UN High-Level Conference, We Discussed Marine Resource Protection Mechanisms Alongside Global Leaders
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Davit Songulashvili, participated in the ongoing United Nations conference in Nice, France.
The conference was opened by the UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Addresses were delivered by French President Emmanuel Macron, President of the European Council António Costa, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The conference was attended by leaders of more than 100 countries, ministers of environment, and other high-ranking officials.
“Participation of over 100 heads of state and high-ranking officials at the UN High-Level Conference underscores the fact that reducing marine pollution, restoring ecosystems, and protecting biodiversity are at the center of global attention.
Special emphasis was placed on the impact of climate change on the marine environment. It was noted that in order to confront existing challenges, we must have a unified approach and act together to introduce mechanisms for the protection and sustainable use of marine resources,” stated Davit Songulashvili.
