David Songulashvili: Walnut Crops Are a Priority Sector with Export Potential

"Walnut crops are one of the priority directions of agriculture and have great export potential. We visited an almond orchard planted across 220 hectares, which was created as a result of private investment. It is important to note that state support played a decisive role in implementing this initiative. The state is creating a favorable investment environment in agriculture, which significantly contributes to strengthening the country’s economy and developing the sector according to modern standards," said David Songulashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

Farmway Technologies Inc., a US-based fintech company, has already invested $20 million in Georgia. In the next stage, the company plans to expand its investment to $100 million. Currently, almond orchards are planted on 220 hectares in the municipalities of Sighnaghi and Dedoplistskaro. Under the new projects, this area will increase to 500 hectares.

In addition, the company plans to establish an almond processing plant for producing almond milk powder, oil, and extracts, as well as to develop cold storage and logistics infrastructure. Farmway Technologies Inc. actively cooperates with the Rural Development Agency.

The company owns agricultural farms in several countries, including the United States, India, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka. It focuses on the sustainable development of agriculture using modern technologies such as Web3, Blockchain, AI, tokenization, and other innovative approaches.

Alongside the minister, the event in Nushi Bagi was attended by Giorgi Aladashvili, State Representative of the Kakheti Region, members of the Georgian Parliament, mayors of local municipalities, heads of the Rural Development Agency, and investors from Italy, France, and India representing Farmway Technologies Inc.
