David Songulashvili Visits “Meskheti Poultry” Operations in Akhaltsikhe

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, visited the village of Klde in the Akhaltsikhe Municipality to familiarize himself with the operations of “Meskheti Poultry” LLC.

“Meskheti Poultry” is a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency and operates under the “Preferential Agrocredit” project. The company has secured an agro-loan of approximately 500,000 GEL, which has supported the development of its poultry farming infrastructure. Currently, the farm houses 50,000 chickens and produces around 40,000 eggs daily, all of which are sold on the local market. The enterprise employs 30 residents from the surrounding area.

As part of the broader “Preferential Agrocredit” initiative, aimed at supporting the development of poultry farming across Georgia, a total of 2,779 loans have been issued nationwide, amounting to over 278.1 million GEL. The co-financing provided by the Rural Development Agency exceeds 67.2 million GEL. Specifically in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, 133 loans worth 8.8 million GEL have been disbursed, with co-financing surpassing 1.8 million GEL.

Accompanying the Minister during the visit were Deputy Minister Kakha Kakabadze, State Representative in the Samtskhe-Javakheti Region Zaal Gelashvili, Chairman of the Akhaltsikhe Municipality Sakrebulo Davit Lomidze, and Acting Director of the Rural Development Agency Giorgi Avaliani.
