David Songulashvili: 270 Processing and Storage Enterprises Established with State Co-Financing Across Georgia
Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture David Songulashvili inspected a canning enterprise established with state support in the village of Gamgarja, Dedoplistskaro Municipality.
The canning facility, Geonaturals, was founded with the financial backing of the Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. Over 1 million GEL was invested in the enterprise, including more than 450,000 GEL through preferential agro-credit and 370,000 GEL in grant co-financing. The enterprise employs 40 people full-time and produced 1 million cans of food in 2024. The products are marketed under the brand name Sadili.
David Songulashvili emphasized the rise in productivity in the processing sector and noted that the 270 enterprises established under the Rural Development Agency’s co-financing program cover diverse sectors—fruit and vegetables, nuts, tea, walnuts, dairy, fish, meat, and more. According to the Minister, high-quality Georgian products are now competing with imports in the local market and increasingly finding their place in export markets.
He described Geonaturals as a standout example of a successful state-supported enterprise that has firmly established itself on the local market.
Notably, within the framework of the Rural Development Agency’s co-financing program, 270 enterprises have been created nationwide, with total co-financing exceeding 126 million GEL.
Minister Songulashvili was accompanied by the Chairman of the Agrarian Issues Committee, Gela Samkharauli, State Representative in the Kakheti Region, Giorgi Aladashvili, and Deputy Minister Lasha Dolidze.
