“25,000 Hectares of Agricultural Land Surveyed in 2025” – Ministry

In 2025, the Soil Fertility Research Service of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture surveyed 25,000 hectares of soil across seven municipalities. In addition, 413 soil samples were analyzed under laboratory conditions to assess their physical, chemical, and physico-chemical characteristics.

The collected data were uploaded to a unified electronic database, which serves as the basis for the development of thematic soil maps.

Based on the research findings, more than 200 farmers received recommendations aimed at improving soil fertility, including guidance for vineyard and wheat cultivation. These measures contribute in practice to the efficient and sustainable use of land resources.

The laboratory has been implementing the project “Study of the General Condition of Soils in Georgia” since 2016. The project aims to assess and evaluate the overall condition of Georgian soils and to create relevant thematic digital maps. To date, more than 250,000 hectares of agricultural land have been inventoried and studied under the project.
