Natia Chankvetadze Appointed as New Director of the Program on Georgian Studies at Harvard University
Harvard University has announced Natia Chankvetadze as the new director of its Program on Georgian Studies. Chankvetadze is a peace-building scholar-practitioner known for her significant contributions to promoting peace education in Georgia.
In her statement, Chankvetadze expressed deep gratitude for the scholarships and programs that enabled her educational journey from a small village in Georgia to her current role at Harvard University. She highlighted the importance of the support she received from various American and British scholarships and grants, as well as from Georgian civil society organizations.
"I feel an immense responsibility leading this program, especially following in the footsteps of Professor Stephen Jones, who founded it. His dedication to Georgia is well-known to anyone familiar with his work," said Chankvetadze.
