Heliciculture to Develop in Georgia in 2020
From 2020, almost 20 snail farms will be implemented in Georgia. In the village Akhali Khibula, Nadi Group will be facilitator for developing heliciculture.
As Merab Nadaraia noted when they opened snail farm in Georgia and exported 12 tones of snails in Italy, the interest in this field of business has increased. Among those businesses is tea producing company "Gurieli".
"From different regions of Georgia, many expressed interest in opening snail farms, for instance, in Guria - the region of Ozurgeti, Samegrelo - Abasha and Zugdidi, Kakheti - Lagodekhi, also in the region of Kaspi, which is located near Tbilisi. In total, nearly 20 farms of snails will be opened in 2020, some of them in Spring and the rest in Autumn.", stated one of the founders of Nadi Group.
According to Merab Nadaraia, Nadi Group offers counseling to the future owners of the snail farms and is active participant in projecting and monitoring processes.
"These farms will be independent farms, which means that they will be founded and built by our consultations. Then, we will collaborate with everyone. We arrive in the concrete locations, where based on our examining process of the place, we start to project it. Then, we start monitoring after estimating the building process. Projecting some farms is already finished. To make it more exact, nearly 15 projects are already implemented and on the rest of them working processes take place. The space of each farm fluctuates between 0.5 and 5 hectares. Some of the farms will be opened in May. Some of them will be ready to open in September. It is depended on how they will mobilize the finances.", stated Merab Nadaraia.
"The new farms will need to be supplied with female snails and we must deliver them from our farms. Apparently, we will have to bring in breeding snails because of the demand on local market. Approximately 1 million of snails will be necessary to be able to supply snail farms. At this moment, we have nearly 7 tones of snails remained for supplying the farms.", declared Merab Nadaraia.
Since Nadi Group supplies snail farms based in Georgia with breeding snails, they will multiply snails in their own farm, in the village Akhali Khibula.
