Certified Wheat Seed from Agrosphere and Saatbau

It has been 10 years since "Agrosphere" and the Austrian company Saatbau began testing various wheat varieties in Georgia and producing seed material adapted to the country’s climatic conditions. As a result of this collaboration, the Georgian market now offers high-quality, certified wheat varieties, giving local farmers the opportunity to achieve healthy harvests with minimal losses.

"Saatbau is the largest producer of seed material, with over 73 years of experience in developing top-quality varieties tailored to different countries. The company entered the Georgian market in 2014, after Agrosphere became its official partner. The goal of this partnership was to replace low-quality seed material with superior varieties and help Georgian farmers improve their yields," says Alexi Zazikashvili, head of the seed production department at Agrosphere.

The wheat varieties produced through the cooperation between Agrosphere and Saatbau include Amycus, Gallus, Amandus, Balitus, and Apexus. All of these are early-ripening varieties, an essential trait given Georgia’s climatic conditions. They are distinguished by their resistance to frost, drought, and heat. Additionally, the seeds are treated with fungicides and insecticides, providing high resistance to diseases and pests. Importantly, all these varieties are certified according to both Georgian and European standards.

"Ten years ago, many farmers didn’t understand why different seed materials had different names, as there was only one type of seed available in Georgia at the time. Thanks to the joint efforts of Agrosphere and Saatbau, this has changed. Today, farmers can choose seed material that meets their specific needs and, most importantly, trust in its quality," says Tanya Hübner, Head of Business Development at Saatbau.

Now is an ideal time to purchase these seeds, as the company is offering special prices to customers. The second reproduction of 1 kg of Amicus and Gallus is available for just 1 GEL, and the first reproduction of all five varieties is priced at 1.35 GEL. Supplies are limited, so act quickly.
