24 Year-Old Girl's Rose Garden Turned into a Business

Mariam Kobalia, 24, is a newcomer entrepreneur who owns a flower garden and a breeding ground in the village of Darcheli in Zugdidi district.

She says that her grandmother's horticulture started years ago, turned into a business today.

According to her, this is a kind of family business, with a monthly income of at least 1000 GEL.

As Mariam tells bm.ge, she learned about the YES-Georgia project last year and decided to put her own strength into entrepreneurship. The very first entrepreneurial education was acquired at Crystal School of Entrepreneurs.

After getting involved in the project, she not only received relevant education but also became a beneficiary of the USAID YES Georgia project.

“Within the framework of the project I was financed with 2300 GEL, so I bought Dutch rose seedlings. The person I bought seedlings from, he taught me this business, so it was easier than I expected, ”says Mariam.

As for the sales market, the start-up entrepreneur sells flowers on the spot too, but mostly in the Zugdidi market, in 4 stores.

“I collect about 100-140 flowers almost every day and place it for 1 GEL in stores. The demand for flowers is so high that sometimes I can't fully satisfy it, so I am actively thinking about expanding my business, for which I need 5000 GEL, ”Mariam Kobalia told bm.ge, adding that she plans to use the program announced by the Farmers Association. A cover letter has already been sent.
