Salome Zurabishvili Responds to Russian Invasion of Ukraine

"This day is tragic for Georgia and all peace-loving nations in Europe and the world, since the war broke out in the heart of Europe despite all attempts to conduct a dialogue.", noted the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili.

The President paid tribute to the fallen soldiers and civilians in Ukraine.

"I canceled the meeting of national consent scheduled for today, because I believe that the issue of national consent today is one - Ukraine and our solidarity with Ukraine. Today is a tragic day for Ukraine. Although the country did its best to maintain peace, the region could not avoid full-scale Russian aggression. Today, it is trying to cope with this difficult situation. Georgia stands by Ukraine's side.

I want to address the population, the political spectrum, the majority, the opposition and the government, today, for our future, national consent and unanimity are vitally important."

The President expresses readiness to represent Georgia in any format, which will be held related to Ukraine.

"I am ready to represent Georgia in all formats, where the issue of Ukraine is discussed, because the matter of Ukraine is our matter too and we need to hear the voice of Georgia there as well."
