Ruble Sanks to a Record Low Amid to Russia's Invasion of Ukraine

Russian assets fell sharply as military attacks across Ukraine prompted emergency central bank action.

MOEX, a Russian index, plumetted by 38 per cent today. Gazprom's shares plunged 54%, followed by Lukoil's 47% fall, Rosneft's 58% decline, Inter Rao's 54%, Yandex's 43%, Magnit's 44%, and Sberbank's 57% sharp decrease.

At the same time, Russian ruble hit record low. Currently, one dollar is worth 86.5 rubles, which is a 6% depreciation.

Russian stocks now suffer the biggest fall since 2008.
