“The Quality of Georgian Wine Improves Every Year” – French Master of Wine

With the support of the National Wine Agency, around 20 Georgian family wineries participated in the RAW Wine NYC exhibition held in New York City.

RAW Wine (The Artisan Wine Fair) brings together producers of high-quality natural, organic, and biodynamic wines from around the world.

“One of the main objectives of the National Wine Agency is to support the increased recognition of wines from family wineries in international markets. This exhibition allows us to present qvevri wine on a large scale, introduce it to internationally renowned industry professionals, and provide producers with an opportunity to find potential importers,” said Elene Kiknadze, Head of the Exhibitions and Events Coordination Division of the National Wine Agency.

RAW Wine is organized by the well-known French Master of Wine Isabelle Legeron. This year, with the support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wineries also participated in RAW Wine exhibitions held in Paris, Shanghai, Tokyo, Copenhagen, and Verona.

“This year we have the largest representation from Georgia. When we taste Georgian wines, it is immediately clear how different each of them is. The diversity of grape varieties is truly unique. It is wonderful that more and more winemakers are working with lesser-known varieties. In the past, we mostly saw Rkatsiteli and Saperavi, but now Kisi, Khikhvi, Mtsvane, as well as rosé and natural sparkling wines, appear much more often, which is very exciting. As a result, the quality is improving every year, and the diversity of styles is also increasing,” said Isabelle Legeron.

Georgia’s Consul General in New York, Maia Bartaya, attended the Georgian wine events. Georgian winemakers also received support from the Consulate General of Georgia in New York for presenting their wines in the U.S.

Over the course of one week, Georgian wine was presented at two major events in New York — the first Georgian amber wine festival Amber Georgia, and the RAW Wine NYC exhibition.

To increase the export potential of Georgian wine and diversify markets, with the financial and organizational support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine was showcased at 29 exhibitions and festivals and around 250 tastings and seminars across the U.S., Europe, and Asia — in a total of about 20 countries during the first 10 months of 2025.
