Telavi Wine Cellar: Sales in the Local Market Halved, Exports Increased

The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the wine production company "Telavi Wine Cellar" sums up year 2021 and states that there is an improvement compared to 2020, however, the company's sales figure has not yet returned to the 2019 mark.

According to Ramazashvili, the company's sales rate in the local market is reduced by about 50% compared to the pre-pandemic rate.

According to him, the decrease in sales was due to the lack of tourist flow, which was compounded by the closure of the HoReCa sector several times during the year, which was directly proportional to the company's sales.

"In order to catch up with the pre-pandemic rate, it is necessary to fully restore active traffic from both our side and the tourist flows. Let's not forget the fact that in restaurants, where a large percentage of our wine is consumed, the activity has decreased since the launch of the 'Green Passport', which has also had a negative impact on our sales," Ramazashvili said.

According to him, there is a significant increase in exports. At the moment, Telavi Wine Cellar sells wine in 28 countries.
