National Wine Agency Joins Independence Day Celebrations in Ambrolauri with the Theme “Georgia – The Homeland of Wine”

As part of Georgia’s Independence Day celebrations, the National Wine Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is participating in events in Ambrolauri under the concept “Georgia – The Homeland of Wine.”

Organized by the Government Administration, Independence Day is being celebrated across Georgia with a variety of cultural, educational, and public events. In Ambrolauri, a festive space has been arranged on the city’s new boulevard, featuring visual and informational displays dedicated to the history and traditions of Georgian wine and vine culture. Visitors can also enjoy educational and entertainment activities for children, while local folklore ensembles perform throughout the day.

Ten wine producers from the Racha and Lechkhumi regions are participating in the event, offering guests the opportunity to taste some of the finest local wines.

The celebrations are attended by Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, together with representatives of local government.

“This day unites all of us and symbolizes the freedom and unity of our state. Independence is our greatest achievement and an essential prerequisite for the country’s development. The wine sector also makes a significant contribution to Georgia’s economic growth.

This year is particularly special as we celebrate the 1,700th anniversary of Christianity being declared the state religion of Georgia. Christianity has shaped our nation’s identity, beliefs, and values, helping us overcome numerous challenges and leading us to the free and developing Georgia we know today,” said Levan Mekhuzla.

At 17:10, the historic time marking the declaration of Georgia’s independence will be commemorated. In Ambrolauri, the Georgian national anthem will be performed by the ensemble Suliko.

The event will conclude with a gala concert in the evening.

In addition to Ambrolauri, Independence Day celebrations organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture are also taking place in the cities of Rustavi and Poti.
