National Wine Agency Introduces Youth to Georgia’s 8,000-Year Wine Tradition

At the meeting, Irma Mdinaradze, a representative of the National Wine Agency, introduced participating young people to Georgian wine culture, history, achievements, and its position on international markets. The guests also toured the Agency’s museum space, where historical and archaeological artifacts related to Georgian wine culture are displayed.

The young participants of the project represent various municipalities of Georgia. During the meeting, the importance of youth engagement and their qualified knowledge was emphasized, particularly in supporting the development of Georgian winemaking and creating favorable conditions for the production of high-quality Georgian wine.

“We introduced young people to the 8,000-year uninterrupted traditions and history of Georgian vine and wine. We also discussed wine quality — the significance of quality-control measures and how this control is carried out,” said Irma Mdinaradze.

The project “Youth Voice” is implemented by the National Institute of Debate and Education within the 2025 grant competition “Strengthening Youth Organizations”, with the support of the Youth Agency.

“Within the framework of the ‘Youth Voice’ project, preparations are underway across Georgia for the national debate championship. For us, the most relevant topic is environmental protection. Today, young participants had questions regarding wine production — to what extent all standards are being met and what progress has been made in this area in our country,” said Tinatin Tsertsvadze, Director of the National Institute of Debate and Education.
