National Wine Agency Discusses Harvest and Quality Standards with Racha-Lechkhumi Wine Producers

At a working meeting held at the National Wine Agency, wine producers from Racha and Lechkhumi gathered to discuss the development prospects of the region’s viticulture and winemaking sectors.

The meeting was chaired by Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency, and focused on preparations for the 2025 harvest, as well as the importance of maintaining grape and wine quality.

Also in attendance were Gocha Enukidze, Member of Parliament representing Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, and Parmen Margvelidze, State Representative of the region.

“The Racha-Lechkhumi region is distinguished by its grape varietal diversity. It is crucial to fully utilize this potential. For Georgian wine to succeed and secure a place in international markets, we must focus on quality. This is a prerequisite for positioning Georgian wine in the high-reputation segment and increasing global demand,” said Levan Mekhuzla.

It was announced that, as in previous years, ampelographers will be stationed at all grape receiving points during the 2025 harvest to monitor the varietal accuracy and quality of grapes. Additionally, strict measures will be implemented to prevent the import of grapes from other municipalities and ensure they are not mixed with local varieties.
