Georgian Wine Presented in Nagoya with Support from National Wine Agency
With the support of the National Wine Agency and the Japanese marketing company Red Bridge, a presentation of Georgian wine was held in the city of Nagoya, Japan.
The presentation covered the history, culture, grape varieties, and modern winemaking industry of Georgia. It was led by Kenichi Ohashi, the only Master of Wine in Japan and the director of Red Bridge. During the event, Ohashi introduced eight Georgian wines of various styles from the regions of Kakheti, Imereti, and Racha.
The event gathered around 100 attendees, including importers, buyers, representatives of retail chains, and members of the media.
Nagoya, located in the Chubu Prefecture, is Japan’s third-largest city after Tokyo and Osaka, with a population of around 10 million. It is considered the capital of the region and serves as a key transportation and industrial hub.
Since 2017, the National Wine Agency has been collaborating with Red Bridge on various marketing initiatives to increase awareness and demand for Georgian wine in the Japanese market.
The first large-scale presentation of Georgian wine in Japan was held in 2014. Since then, with continued support from the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine producers have participated in major Japanese exhibitions such as Foodex Japan, RAW Wine Tokyo, and Wine and Gourmet Japan, as well as local wine competitions. In 2019, the landmark exhibition “Georgia, the Homeland of Wine” was hosted in Tokyo, attracting thousands of visitors over a two-month period.
