Georgian Wine in the Spotlight in Wine Spectator’s March Issue

With the financial support of the National Wine Agency of Georgia and organized by its contracted American marketing company Colangelo & Partners, three articles about Georgian wine were published in the March issue of Wine Spectator, one of the most influential and authoritative wine publications in the United States.

Georgia is featured on the magazine’s cover and is given a full advertising page, which is particularly important for increasing the visibility and promotion of Georgian wine both in the U.S. strategic market and globally. The online version of the issue became available in February. Notably, this is the first time in 14 years that an article about Georgian wine has been published in the magazine.

The first article, titled “Georgia in the Spotlight,” authored by senior editor James Molesworth, provides an overview of Georgian wine. The article highlights that Georgian wines are entering a new phase, noting the country’s 8,000-year-old winemaking tradition, growing tourism, wide range of indigenous grape varieties, distinctive winemaking styles, and rich cuisine.

The article also references the second season of the Emmy-winning multilingual series Drops of God, where Georgian wine is featured prominently.

The second article, titled “Supra,” focuses on Georgian gastronomy and the traditional Georgian feast. Written by Julia Larson, it explores Georgian cuisine, dishes, and the cultural significance of the supra tradition.

The third article presents ratings of Georgian wines. James Molesworth selected 56 wines from 23 producers for tasting. The highest score—93 points—was awarded to Khikhvi Kakheti 2023 (Andris Wine). In total, 18 wines scored 90 points or higher on Wine Spectator’s 100-point scale, which is considered a strong rating.

Wine Spectator, published since 1976, is regarded as one of the most influential wine and lifestyle publications among both enthusiasts and professionals. Its print circulation reaches approximately 400,000, while its total readership, including online platforms, is close to 3 million.
