Georgia, Serbia Highlight Strong Partnership and Shared Wine Heritage

During his visit to Italy, Davit Songulashvili met with Dragan Glamočić, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Serbia.

“I would like to emphasize the ties between Georgia and Serbia, which provide a solid foundation for further strengthening our partnership. Ongoing negotiations on a free trade agreement demonstrate the deepening of relations between our countries. We also value Serbia’s experience in the European integration process and express our readiness to share best practices,” Davit Songulashvili stated.

The meeting highlighted the potential for cooperation between the two countries, particularly in sharing experience in implementing quality standards and certification systems.

Discussions also focused on the importance of joint efforts in developing climate-smart agriculture, sustainable land management, and organic farming.

“I am pleased to have met with my colleague, Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songulashvili. We discussed how we can further strengthen our cooperation and long-standing partnership, which was reinforced following the recent visit of the President of Georgia to Serbia in December last year. I am confident that our sectoral cooperation, already at a high level, will deepen even further. Our agricultural sectors have strong potential to complement each other, as we share many similarities, including a strong wine culture.

Georgia is a country with a long tradition in winemaking and distinctive production methods,” said Dragan Glamočić.

The meeting was also attended by Tamar Liluashvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Italy; Levan Mekhuzla; and Davit Chitaishvili, Head of the International Relations and European Integration Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
