DigiWine to Launch Platform for Investing in Georgian Wines in November
DigiWine, a Georgian startup transforming local wines into an investment asset, will launch its platform in November, founder Levan Ilashvili told Business Partner. The platform aims to open new sales channels for Georgian wine producers by offering investors the opportunity to buy and store collectible wines, with the potential to resell as their value appreciates.
“Investors can purchase collectible wines and store them with us. As the value rises, they can resell directly on the platform," Ilashvili explained. "Eventually, we plan to expand with collectible brands from neighboring countries like Armenia.”
DigiWine will feature a selection of wines from both Georgian and international producers. Buyers receive a digital asset stored in their wallets, allowing them to easily sell on the platform. This solution eliminates previous logistical challenges for collectors and provides secure storage.
The platform's initial focus is on European markets, with a goal of reaching 5,000 customers and $4 million in collectible wine sales within the first year. “Georgian consumers may not engage significantly, as the local market shows limited interest in investments of this kind. Our product is designed to simplify investment in Georgian wines for foreign investors,” Ilashvili noted.
DigiWine is one of the recipients of a 150,000 GEL co-financing grant from the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA).
