Davit Songulashvili Meets Master Sommeliers from Dragon Phoenix Wine Consulting

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Davit Songulashvili met with renowned wine experts Fogyee Walker and Edward Ragg from Dragon Phoenix Wine Consulting, a leading wine consultancy in the global industry.

“I would like to thank you for your contribution to the promotion of Georgian wine in China. Increasing awareness of Georgian wine in this strategic market is vital for us. I believe that with coordinated cooperation, we will achieve our desired results,” said Davit Songulashvili.

“In the work of a Master of Wine, emotions and heartfelt words are essential. I am looking forward to visiting the wine region of Kakheti, which I’m sure will help me speak more genuinely about Georgian wine,” said Fogyee Walker.

Notably, the wine experts have extensive experience working with and analyzing the Chinese market.

The meeting was also attended by Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency of Georgia.

China is one of the most prominent strategic export markets for Georgian wine. Since 2013, a targeted marketing campaign has been actively underway to raise awareness and increase exports. According to data from January to May of this year, 1.4 million liters of Georgian wine were exported to China—65% more than the same period last year.

Currently, around 40 Georgian wine houses, shops, and salons operate in China, with approximately 100 Georgian wine companies exporting to the country.

With the support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine was featured in major exhibitions in China in 2025, including the Fine Wine Hotel Exhibition, The China Food & Drinks Fair, RAW Wine Shanghai, and Interwine China 2025.
