Chelti Winery Prepares to Enter the Philippine Market
By the end of this year, Chelti Winery plans to debut its wines in the Philippines. Ana Mirianashvili, the company’s commercial director, shared with Business Partner that negotiations are actively progressing, and there is a sense of excitement about the new market potential.
“Chelti Winery will be a fresh and appealing choice for the Philippine market, as Georgian wine is not yet widely available there,” Mirianashvili explained.
The winery has already hosted a presentation in the Philippines, attended by wine importers and prospective consumers. Another promotional event is set to take place in Manila on the 15th of this month. “The Philippines is a vast market. So far, we’ve observed particular interest in Shale and Saperavi wines,” Mirianashvili added.
Currently, 70% of Chelti’s wine production is exported. The company has also planted 13 additional hectares of vineyards, which are expected to increase production in about three years.
Chelti Winery is situated in the village of Shilda in Kvareli, where it cultivates vineyards and fruit orchards over 80 hectares. The estate features traditional wine cellars and a historic wine tourism complex. The winery produces around 400,000 bottles annually, with 30% sold locally.
Among the 21 wine varieties offered by Chelti Winery are ancient Georgian grapes like Khikhvi and Kisi. The family-owned business was founded by Giga Mirianashvili and continues to uphold the traditions of Georgian winemaking.
