The second season of the Apple TV series Drops of God, which also features Georgia, has received high ratings from both critics and audiences. On the leading American film and television review website Rotten Tomatoes, Season 2 holds an 89% rating from critics and a 91% audience score. This recognition is significant for promoting Georgian wine and increasing its global visibility.
On January 21, the second season of the Emmy Award-winning multilingual series Drops of God premiered on Apple TV. The season consists of several episodes and takes millions of viewers worldwide on a journey into the world of wine culture and gastronomy, including Georgia.
Drops of God is based on the bestselling Japanese manga of the same name and is a French-Japanese drama. In the series, the father of the main characters, the legendary French sommelier Alexandre Léger, has created the largest and most valuable wine collection in the world. In Season 2, the protagonists set out to discover the origin of the finest yet unnamed bottle in the collection. In pursuit of this goal, they travel to several countries, including Georgia.
“A fictional series about wine could not overlook Georgia. This is the result of the success Georgian wine has achieved internationally. Georgian wine culture is recognized not only within the wine sector but worldwide,” said Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency.
Part of the second season of Drops of God was filmed in Georgia with the participation of production companies Studio 99 and A.S.I. Film, and with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia’s agency “Produce in Georgia” under the “Film in Georgia” project. The project consultant was Shalva Khetsuriani, President of the Georgian Sommelier Association.
