An Exquisite Georgian Wine Tasting Experience Illuminates Hiroshima, Japan

In a bid to boost the global prominence of Georgian wines, a spectacular wine tasting event took place in Hiroshima, Japan, captivating a total of 50 attendees, primarily drawn from the local hospitality industry, importers, and sommeliers. This event was orchestrated with the backing of the National Wine Agency.

Kenichi Ohashi, director of the marketing firm "Red Bridge," master of wine, and a contractor for the National Wine Agency, navigated guests through a captivating two-hour presentation, exploring the intricate nuances of Georgian wine culture and the evolution of its contemporary industry.

The attendees savored a diverse array of Georgian wines, fostering lively discussions about the immense export potential and the magnitude of Georgian wine production.

The overarching ambition behind the showcase of Georgian wines was to stimulate sales growth and pique the interest of prospective importers. The National Wine Agency has been in strategic partnership with "Red Bridge" since 2017, making significant strides in marketing Georgian wine in the Japanese market.

The debut large-scale presentation of Georgian wine in Japan took place in 2014. In subsequent years, with the continued patronage of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine enterprises graced renowned exhibitions such as "Foodex Japan" and "Wine and Gourmet Japan," in addition to participating in local wine competitions.

Highlighting this fruitful relationship, 2019 saw the grand exhibition titled "Georgia is the Homeland of Wine" held in Tokyo, Japan's capital. This notable event, which spanned two months, welcomed thousands of wine aficionados from around the globe.

The recent wine tasting event in Hiroshima builds on this legacy, further strengthening the bond between Georgian winemakers and Japanese wine enthusiasts, while continuing to position Georgian wine as a force to reckon with on the global stage.
