Almost Half of the Grape Harvest in Kakheti is Already Settled
As of September 17, up to 130,000 tons of grapes have been processed in Kakheti, which is about 50% of the forecast crop and is twice as much as in the same period last year.
In Kakheti, up to 13 thousand viticulturists have already received income of up to 120 million GEL from the sale of grapes.
75 thousand tons of processed grapes are Rkatsiteli, 46 thousand tons are Saperavi, up to 3 thousand tons are Kakhetian green, the rest are different varieties of grapes.
The daily processing of grapes is still within 10 thousand tons, which indicates the active course of the harvest.
Up to 170 large, small and medium-sized wineries have been involved in the grape processing process since the beginning of the harvest.
According to the decision of the Government of Georgia, a subsidy program will be implemented to support the 2021 vintage. The aim of the program is not to negatively affect the situation caused by the pandemic on viticultural farmers and wine producers, and to fully accommodate the grape harvest.
