Wizz Air Plans to Expand in Kutaisi International Airport
Organized by the Union of Georgian Airports, the manager of corporate communications of Wizz Air is on a two-day visit to Georgia.
According to the information of the Union of Airports, after Tbilisi, Zhazha Trubek arrived in Kutaisi, inspected the renovated airport and got acquainted with its potential on the spot.
During the two-day visit, it was decided that Europe's fastest-growing airline Wizz Air will return its second base to Kutaisi International Airport and resume direct flights to Paris and Tallinn from August 1.
''I am very satisfied with my visit to Georgia. I am in your country for the first time and I really liked it. I was impressed with Kutaisi airport. I am leaving Georgia with good news: we are adding a second base aircraft, flying to new destinations. We think that in the future we will expand even more in Georgia", said Zhazha Trubek.
According to Vako Chilashvili, the aviation business development manager of the Association of Georgian Airports, the second Wizz Air aircraft based at the Kutaisi International Airport allows increasing the flight frequencies to the existing destinations. At the meeting with the management of the airline, it was decided that the frequencies will be increased from Kutaisi to Athens, Berlin, Barcelona, Riga, Dortmund, Memmingen, Milan, Prague, Thessaloniki and Wroclaw.
"Meetings with the management of Wizz Air were very positive. Finally, it was decided to place the second aircraft of the airline at Kutaisi International Airport. We will delight Georgian passengers with many more joint innovations in the near future, - Vako Chilashvili said.
According to the data of the 5th month of 2022, Wizz Air served a total of 232,450 passengers at the Kutaisi International Airport and is the leader of the Georgian air market in terms of the number of transported passengers.
