WIZZ AIR Maintains the Leadership of the Georgian Aviation Market
The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air continues to dominate the Georgian aviation industry.
According to the data of the Civil Aviation Agency, in January-October 2022, Wizz Air carried 469,222 passengers on regular and charter flights, with this figure the airline owns 13% of the Georgian aviation market.
Turkish Airlines is in second place with a 12% share, serving 456,802 passengers.
Turkish carrier Pegasus Airlines owns a 9% share of the air market, which transported 333,056 passengers to Tbilisi and Kutaisi airports.
The fourth place in the top five with a share of 6% was taken by the Belavia airline company of Belarus with 207,451 passengers. United Arab Emirates airline flydubai, Azerbaijani airline AZAL and Israeli airline Israir Airlines own a 5-5% share.
In January-October 2022, 97% of passengers on the Georgian air market were served by foreign airlines, and the remaining 3% by national airlines.
