Tekuna Gachechiladze Opened Silver Lakes Farm in Kakheti

In Kakheti, in the village of Kurdglauri, Telavi district, a recreation space "Silver Lakes Farm" was opened with the concept of Farm to the Table. The co-founder of the project is the famous chef Tekuna Gachechiladze.

According to her, 3 cottages, 7 artificial lakes (built on a total of 7 ha), an outdoor pool, a vineyard, vegetable and fruit gardens, and a fish farm are already functioning in the 22 ha area, which will be gradually utilized over the course of 10 years. There is a cafe-restaurant on the site, where some of the vegetables are grown on the farm owned by the company, and some are from neighboring farms.

A sunflower garden has been planted on the territory of 2 hectares, from which the company produces sunflower oil for its own consumption.

According to Gachechiladze, the founders have been working on this project for about 3 years, and last week the recreation space received its first guests. The guests are currently local vacationers, however, there is interest from international tourists as well.

"This concept was created for those who are interested in eco and gastro tourism. The vacationer will be able to work in the gardens, be close to nature and get great pleasure from it," Gachechiladze said.

As Gachechiladze explains, additional cottages are being built. Accordingly, in October of this year, there will be 10 cottages in the recreation area.

"By 2023, it is planned to arrange a chicken farm, as well as the construction of a 20-bed hotel. The complex will acquire an educational load as well. We want this place to become a kind of residence for young chefs, gardeners, and botanists. We will encourage them to come and live here and share their experience to our cooks and gardeners," said Gachechiladze.

The co-founder of "Silver Lakes" notes that at the moment about 20 locals are employed in the recreation area. 100% of the investment made in the project is Georgian.
