Tbilisi to host EuroBasket with New 10 000 Seats Sports Complex

Multi-Functional Sports Complex will be built in Tbilisi with 10 000 seats in line with a Government Resolution to host EuroBasket in 2021.

Machinery has been mobilized for the construction of a new hall at the premises of Tbilisi Olympic Palace on University Street. Construction will be completed in June 2021 and will fully comply with every requirement of FIBA.

Total cost of the project is 71 MLN GEL, out of which 50 MLN GEL will be allocated from the State Budget this year and 21 MLN GEL - next year. As a result of the Government Resolution, country will save almost 179 MLN GEL as the original cost of the project roughly amounted 250 MLN GEL.

Team Tournament Phase of 2021 Basketball Championship in Europe will be held in Tbilisi on September 2-19. By that time Georgia will be in full readiness to host the EuroBasket, which is very important for the development of sports and tourism in the country.
