"New cases of infection continue to grow on an unprecedented scale. However, the relatively low severity of omicron is considered to be an already proven fact. In this regard, there is also an argument, despite the high incidence of infection, of the high cost of hotel and airline prices in international markets.

In Georgia, infection and mortality rates are still problematic, although, according to January preliminary figures, the pace of tourism recovery has accelerated significantly.

"This allows us to assume that in 2022, the growth of the economy, which is mainly dependent on the recovery of tourism, will be higher than our December estimate of 5.5%," reads the report.
