Number of Domestic Visitors Grows by Annual 2.3%
In the third quarter of 2020, the average monthly number of domestic tourists totaled 1,148,700 and they carried out 1,312,200 visits all over Georgia.
According to Geostat, the national statistics service of Georgia, the number of visitors rose by 2.3% in the mentioned period, compared to the third quarter of 2019. The third quarter of 2020 recorded an averaged monthly 663,300 tourism visits on the territory of Georgia, down 6.6% as compared to the same period of 2019.
In the third quarter of 2020, the ratio of the 31-50 age category in a total number of domestic visitors amounted to 38.6%, including the ratio of women visitors in the total number of visitors constituted 54.8%. “According to the survey results, 40.8% of the visitors live in Tbilisi; 13.3% come from Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo-Svaneti Region, 11.6% - Kvemo Kartli Region. The majority of visits were paid to Tbilisi (monthly 262,900 visits on average) and Imereti Region (monthly 212,700 visits on average). In the third quarter of 2020, the averaged monthly costs on visits amounted to GEL 219.2 million, down 6.9% year on year.
