New Vehicle Customs Checkpoint 'Ninotsminda' Opened on Georgia-Armenia Border
The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance continues the construction/reconstruction and equipping of customs checkpoints throughout the country.
A new vehicle customs checkpoint "Ninotsminda" was opened on the Georgia-Armenia border.
Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili, Head of the Revenue Service, Levan Kakava, Chairman of the Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia, Rustam Badasian, and the Head of the Customs Department addressed the guests invited to the official opening ceremony of the "Ninotsminda" automobile customs-checkpoint, the customs officers and patrol police officers working on the spot.
In his speech, the Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili, emphasized the importance of the new customs infrastructure, both in the direction of bilateral and regional cooperation.
As he mentioned, Georgia has the status of an important transit country. Accordingly, the government's efforts are aimed at implementing an economic policy in the region that is in line with international standards, mutually beneficial, based on partnership cooperation.
11 exits equipped with modern control systems were organized at the "Ninotsminda" customs checkpoint for trucks, passengers and light vehicles carrying out international shipments. About 70 customs officers will work at the checkpoint. Every day, both directions are designed to carry at least 600 trucks, 3,000 cars and 8,000 passengers.
In addition, within the framework of infrastructural works, approximately 4000 sq.m. The area was also equipped with new underground communications, a drainage network, and a car viewing hangar was built. The project also envisages greening of the area.
