Navenakhevi Cave Sees Record Growth in Visitors in 8 Months - Protected Areas Agency

According to the 8-month visitor statistics from Georgia's Protected Areas Agency, interest in canyons and caves has seen the highest growth compared to last year. Visitors are increasingly drawn to eco-friendly tourism sites and natural monuments with well-developed infrastructure.

Among the most visited sites, Navenakhevi Cave experienced a significant 33% increase in visitors, followed by Sataflia with 20%, Martvili Canyon with 12%, and Prometheus Cave with 10%. Navenakhevi Cave, a relatively new ecotourism destination, has quickly gained popularity.

In total, the top five protected areas—Prometheus Cave, Martvili Canyon, Sataflia, Mtirala National Park, and Tsalki Canyon—welcomed 619,743 visitors, marking a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.

International interest in Georgia's protected areas has also grown, with India entering the top five countries for visitor numbers for the first time.

The Agency of Protected Areas continues to invest in ecotourism development, helping to boost visitor numbers and improve the socio-economic conditions of local communities.
