“More Than 1.2 Million Visitors Traveled to Protected Areas in 11 Months” – Besik Amiranashvili

The number of visitors to Georgia’s protected areas has exceeded 1.2 million, marking a record-high figure. This achievement is the result of consistent efforts undertaken to develop ecotourism.

According to Besik Amiranashvili, Chair of the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia, one of the Agency’s main priorities is the development of ecotourism, within the framework of which relevant infrastructure is being actively improved.

“This year, picnic areas, visitor centers, and parking infrastructure were developed in the territory of Tbilisi National Park, offering visitors a more comfortable environment,” said Besik Amiranashvili.

He added that existing and newly developed infrastructure will enable the country to accommodate tourist flows while ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for visitors.

According to Amiranashvili, the development of ecotourism will continue in the future. The Agency plans to establish six new protected areas, where small-scale ecotourism infrastructure will be developed. This will allow Georgia to diversify tourism services and visitor flows and further strengthen the tourism potential of its protected areas.
