Mestia Airport to Get New Modern Terminal

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced plans for a new terminal at Mestia Airport during today's government meeting. The design for the terminal, which will adhere to modern standards, has been awarded to "Green Studio" after their project proposal was selected as the best.

The Prime Minister emphasized the government's ongoing commitment to enhancing the country's tourism infrastructure. "At our previous meeting, we discussed the Tbilisi International Airport. It's equally important to develop our domestic airports and regional traffic to support the growing tourist influx," he explained.

Highlighting the positive tourism trends, Kobakhidze noted, "This year's first quarter saw an 11% increase in visitor numbers compared to last year, with over 1.3 million visitors, including one million tourists. This growth underscores the need for improved infrastructure to provide the best possible experience for visitors to Georgia."

The development of Mestia Airport is part of a broader initiative to boost internal mobility and ease access to different regions and cities within Georgia. "The new terminal at Mestia Airport will enhance the appeal of Svaneti, one of our most visited tourist regions, and contribute to the socioeconomic development of the area," Kobakhidze added.

The terminal will feature food outlets, shopping spaces, and all necessary services to accommodate the needs of travelers. "We are dedicated to continuously advancing our tourism potential and are grateful to the Ministry of Economy for their diligent work on this project, which will ensure the construction of the new terminal," concluded the Prime Minister.
