Mariam Kvrivishvili: Bakuriani will be in the Spotlight of World Media

The necessary infrastructure for the 2023 Ski and Snowboard World Championship in Bakuriani has been completed.

As part of the works, two artificial water reservoirs in the form of a lake, a 29-kilometer artificial snowmaking system, a new cable car and 6 competitive ski tracks were made in Bakuriani. According to the Deputy Minister of Economy, Mariam Kvrivishvili, it is important that this infrastructure will remain in Bakuriani, which will help the resort to start the season early and end it late.

"This will allow us to extend the winter ski season. As a result, we will receive more domestic and international travelers. The capacity of tourists will increase at the resort, and all this will have a positive impact on local small and medium enterprises. From 2023, Bakuriani will be able to host many more visitors, which will have a positive effect on the economy. We will host the media that covers winter sports worldwide. In fact, Bakuriani will be at the epicenter of international sports media for 2 weeks, and this will raise our awareness", Kvrivishvili explained.

According to him, the state invested 300 million for infrastructure works.

"There are two economic effects within the framework of this project. First, it is the sustainability of the resort and increasing its capacity. Second, within the framework of the World Cup, world-class media outlets will come to Bakuriani, and this is equivalent to the marketing expenses that our country will no longer pay," he said.
