Maia Omiadze Appointed as the Head of the National Tourism Administration

Maia Omiadze, who until now headed the Department of Strategic Communications of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, was appointed as the head of the National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.

At different times, she also headed the Public Relations Division of the Ministry of Culture and Monuments Protection, and the Marketing and Public Relations Department of the Mountain Resorts Development Agency. At the same time, she is an invited lecturer at Caucasus University.

Maia Omiadze was presented to the employees of the National Tourism Administration today by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, who emphasized the experience and professionalism of the new head of the administration.

"Maia Omiadze has considerable experience working in the public sector, including in a managerial position. I think that his education, skills, and many years of experience will give a new impetus to the work of the administration and the development of one of the priority sectors for the economy of our country - tourism. I am sure that under her leadership, the administration will be able not only to advance and develop but also to deal with the challenges in the field", Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.

According to Maya Omiadze, it is a great honor for her to lead such a strategic agency as the National Tourism Administration.

"We have quite ambitious goals and plans, which I will gradually introduce both to the sector and to the society. First of all, it is about getting more income from tourism, creating even more tourist locations, and creating new infrastructure. At the same time, as you know, Georgia is the host of the two biggest events of the world scale next year - ITB Berlin and the World Championship in freestyle skiing and snowboarding to be held in Bakuriani. We will do everything so that after these events, Georgia will become the host of many large and similar scale events in the coming years," said Maya Omiadze.

The head of the National Tourism Administration was selected through an open competition.
