Levan Karumidze Appointed Chair of the National Gastronomy Agency

Levan Karumidze has been appointed Chair of the National Gastronomy Agency, a Legal Entity of Public Law established within the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

Karumidze has many years of experience in both management and international relations. From 2020 to 2024, he served first as Deputy Chair and later as First Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration. He was also a member of the Foreign Relations Committee.

Karumidze has extensive experience in senior management positions within the public sector. At various times, he served as Deputy Head of the Office of the National Security Council of Georgia and worked in international media relations at the Administration of the Government of Georgia. He also held senior positions in Legal Entities of Public Law operating under the Ministry of Education and Science.

Karumidze’s professional experience will contribute to the Agency’s effective operation, enhance the international visibility and promotion of Georgian gastronomy, support the development of the country’s gastronomic heritage, and strengthen cooperation with international partners. This, in turn, will help position Georgia as a country with a distinctive gastronomic culture.

The National Gastronomy Agency was established within the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia pursuant to a Georgian government resolution dated 20 July 2026. Its mission is to preserve, develop and promote the country’s gastronomic heritage, increase its international recognition, and formulate and implement a unified state policy and strategy in the field of gastronomy.
