Leopard Discovered in the Protected Area of Tusheti

The leopard was discovered by the Nacres Conservation Research Group. The leopard's movements were recorded by the photo-trap in the month of August. The members of the Nacres group saw the photo during the autumn field trip.

"The repeated filming of the leopard in Tusheti gives us hope that we are not dealing with a one-time entry, but that the leopard is returning to Georgia.

We would like to remind you that in August 2021, leopard was photographed by one of the photo-traps installed in the protected areas of Tusheti", says the research group.

Leopard research in Georgia is carried out with the initiative and financial support of the Caucasus Program Office of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The leopard first appeared in Tusheti in August 2021. In 2003-04, the researchers of Nacres saw the tracks of a leopard in the protected area of Vashlovani, and then, for the first time in the Caucasus, they photographed the leopard with a photo trap. Scientists named the predator Noah.
