Georgia to Offer New Tourist Service- Wild Forest Tourism

A new tourist product, wild forest tourism, is being created in Georgia.

The Forest Products Association is working together with the Ecotourism Association on a new direction. It is planned to hold several trial tours this year. The direction of wild tourism in the forest will be fully activated from next year.

"We are working on a new tourist product, wild forest tourism. Guides will also be employed in this direction. I think we will actively offer the new product to our tourists from next year.

This year there will be trial tours, training will be held and guides will be retrained, since this is a new service. It is worth noting that this direction of tourism depends on the season, because the products in the forest are also seasonal. Be it berries, mushrooms, medicinal plants, etc. We should offer seasonal tours to visitors who are interested in wildlife and forest. In this tour, they will not only find and learn about the forest products but also taste them later.

This will be a chain link of the tourist network. Given that this is a completely new service, I think there will be a lot of interest. We are conducting research on the EU market," Giorgi Gujaraidze, the head of the forest products association, told Business Partner.

According to him, the tours will be divided according to regions, and the target market will be mainly the European Union.

"For example, blueberries are found in Guria, Imereti, Khevsureti and Tusheti. In Khevsureti and Tusheti these products are found from the beginning of August, and in Imereti earlier in July. Tours will be planned according to the regions. The target is the European Union market. Italians, French, Americans and Australians are mainly interested in such products. There are similar practices in these countries," he said.
