Freeride World Tour Kicks Off in Svaneti Today

From March 15th to 19th, 2023, Svaneti, a picturesque location in Georgia, will host two freeride skiing competitions as part of the annual Freeride World Tour. The event is made possible with the support of the European Union, Sweden, and Austria, as well as in collaboration with the USAID Economic Security Program.

Freeride skiing involves the exhilarating descent of steep, snow-covered mountains, and the competitions will see around 50 participants from Georgia and other countries showcasing their skills. Alongside the competitions, attendees can look forward to a variety of cultural, gastronomic, and entertainment programs throughout the week.

This event presents an excellent opportunity to promote the mountain resorts in Georgia, increasing their appeal to both local and foreign tourists and athletes. With the support of the Destination Management Organization "Shan-Land" DMO ShanLand, as well as other supporters such as the USAD Economic Security Program, Mestia Municipality, MTA, National Tourism Administration, and Georgian Ski Federation, Svaneti Freeride Week promises to be an unforgettable experience for all.

As an annual world ski and snowboard competition, the Freeride World Tour has explored numerous locations worldwide and united athletes from various countries to compete for the title of winner. By hosting this event, Georgia hopes to further establish its reputation as a premier winter sports destination.
