Entrepreneurs Employed in the Tourism Sector Exempted from Property Tax
"The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance informs you that as a result of the decision made by the Government of Georgia, business entities employed in the tourism sector (as well as in the equivalent sector) have been exempted from the property tax for 2021 (which is expected to be declared in 2022)," the Revenue Service reports.
"This change will have a particularly stimulating effect on the promotion of small and medium-sized businesses in the context of economic losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
More than 1,200 taxpayers will benefit from this and the amount to be paid is approximately 40 million GEL.
The following activities are included in the list:
• Hotels and similar accommodation facilities;
• Vacation and other short-term accommodation facilities;
• Restaurants and mobile food service activities;
• Beverage service activities;
• Travel agencies, tour operators and other booking services and related activities.
Tax relief also applies to property transferred by lease, leasing or another such form, if this property is also used in any of the above-mentioned activities.
