The Winners of SOCIAL IMPACT AWARD have been Revealed

The winners of the international program Social Impact Award were announced. Out of the six teams that made it to the finals, the jury named two winners, and one became a community favorite.

All three winning teams will receive cash prizes from the Bank of Georgia and will travel to Kiev at the International Social Impact Award Summit in December 2019.

The winners of the 2019 Social Impact Award are:

TapText -Device that allows blind people to receive and send electronic text at any time and place.

Basement - the first bilingual digital archive of Georgian alternative music aimed at researching, preserving and sharing contemporary Georgian music.

ZeroStraw - Innovative straw that one can eat and leaves no residue.

Impact Hub Tbilisi has been implementing the Social Impact Award program for the third year, the largest international student program in social entrepreneurship. The program focuses on educating students in the field of social entrepreneurship and offers young people a ten-month educational course to implement their ideas.

“Impact Hub Tbilisi received a license to implement the Social Impact Award in Georgia in 2017. Workshops were held in different regions of Georgia for three years, attended by about 500 students. Throughout the program, students go through the whole process from idea generation to business planning, which gives them the opportunity to start a social business. Three winners have been identified as part of the program this year, all of which address a very pressing social problem and offer innovative ways to solve them, ”said Katie Ebanoidze, co-founder of Impact Hub Tbilisi.

“Promotion and development of social entrepreneurship is one of the most important directions for the Bank of Georgia as a corporation with corporate social responsibility. We annually announce a grant competition and fund social enterprises, which helps to implement even more projects in this area. The Bank has been supporting and sponsoring such an important project as the Social Impact Award for the third year in a row, as it is the best opportunity for young people to set goals and get hands-on experience.
