Social Impact Award's Finalist Flatmate.ge Connects Apartment Seekers

Anyone who at least once had to rent an apartment and share it with another person knows very well how many obstacles you have to overcome on this path. Budget, district, house, roommate, and many other details should be in harmony with each other. This path is familiar to Nino Uturashvili, Pikria Lomjaria, Ninutsa Popkhadze and Gvantsa Sikharulidze.

The problem, which thousands of young people face every year, recently united four like-minded people and led them to the idea of creating a social enterprise Flatmate.ge to solve it. They are now finalists of the Social Impact Award and tell Helloblog what Flatmate.ge is.

Flatmate.ge is a platform that connects apartment seekers based on their preferences such as budget, neighborhood, lifestyle and more.

"Recently, the significant increase in apartment rent has made it difficult for young people, including students, to find an apartment on their own. And our platform aims to help them find a solution by sharing the rent with their roommates," explains Gvantsa Sikharulidze, co-founder of Flatmate.ge.

The startup is currently at the idea validation stage, undergoing the incubation process, and the team hopes that the experience gained will help them move to the platform development stage.

The mentor of Flatmate.ge is Tengo Lomitashvili, the managing partner of the consulting firm "TBSC Consulting". According to him, reducing the cost of living by finding a roommate is both an interesting market opportunity and an idea with a significant social load, which, in the conditions of rising prices for residential real estate, will especially help young people.

"The uniqueness of the mentioned idea lies in the fact that it significantly affects people's monthly expenses and affects their financial and social situation, while finding a desired roommate is a separate important task and improves people's well-being", - notes Tengo.
