Roommate Georgia- New Platform that Connects Stundets find a Roommate
Regardless of whether you own or rent real estate in Tbilisi, it's no longer a secret that rent prices in the capital have risen tremendously in recent months.
Obviously, a number of reasons lead to a sharp increase in prices, including inflation, the increase in construction costs for development companies, the increase in the number of migrants, etc. However, this problem most painfully affected the Georgian students who came from the regions, who were forced to turn to some other, alternative ways due to the almost doubled fees.
In the process of searching for a solution, Mariam Khantadze, Davit Liluashvili and Tako Gamkrelidze decided to create a platform - Roommate Georgia, which connects students looking for housing, "roommates" agree on their desired budget, and then a real estate agent helps them find a suitable apartment.
"Due to recent events in our country, the amount of rent for an apartment has increased significantly. We were directly affected by this problem, because we rent an apartment and the price has increased twice in the last few months. When we encountered this problem, we realized how much of a challenge it would be for the residents of our country, and especially for students who come from the regions. We decided to find a solution ourselves, because solving this problem individually seemed unimaginable in the Georgian economy, we realized that unity was the answer that would help us. That's why we created roommategeorgia.ge, which helps us find a roommate and save on apartment rent," says Mariam Khantadze.
Today, about 200 people are registered on the platform, 40 have managed to find a "roommate", and three universities have even expressed their desire to partner with Roommate. In the future, the startups plan to go outside the country, however, at this stage, active work is being done on adding and improving new functionality for the platform.
"Our main goal is to make life in Tbilisi easier for students, therefore, in order to solve the problems during their cohabitation period, we think we will add many functions to our website in the future. First of all, along with finding a roommate, we are trying to make it possible to find apartments directly on our website", explains the founder of Roommate Georgia at Entrepreneur.
